Trip Information
This information was sent home in Childpost on Thursday, September 14.
Parents, please review
the overnight camping rules for the USS Kidd. It contains
information specific to the ship. There are several guidelines outlined
in the two pages that can make a difference in you and your son's safety
onboard. There is also a suggested packing list on the second page. We
will meet as a group at Stuart Hall at 3:45pm. Pizza will be served.
Please check in with your den leader and inform them of who you will be
riding with. Will will leave Stuart Hall at approximately 4:30. Please
bring snacks and drinks packed in a cooler. With dinner early in the
day, hunger may strike before bedtime. Food may not be brought below
deck. Uniforms
are optional, but encouraged. Directions
from New Orleans: Take I-10 to Baton Rouge. Exit Government Street, go
left. Go all the way to the river, where the Kidd is located. NOTE:
I-10 will be closed at Williams Blvd. Saturday. You may wish to take
Airline Drive to the Airport Access Road, and go left to Loyola, where
you can get back on I-10. Parking
is limited directly at the Kidd. However, the Casino just down the
street has a lot that will accommodate our cars. We
will have a Pack Meeting on board the vessel. The Wolves and new
Scouts (other than Tiger Cubs) will meet their qualifications for and be
rewarded with the rank of Bobcat. This will be a centerpiece of the Pack
